Richardson, when he appeared before the management committee of the Horowheriua Rugby Union on "Tuesday night. He was suspended for two playing Saturday s. Reporting to the committee, the ref.eree, Mr. F. G. . Carrington, said that he had been compelled to order Richardson oif the field for deliberatoly striking an opposing player with a closed fist. Foxton players, incited by the spectators", had continually questioned " his decisions, he added. Uiscussing the report, a member of the committ.ee, Mr. C. Johnston (Foxton) a'sked if it was not a fact that Mr. Carrington had rjeslgpe.d from the Ref erees' Association, and* if so, why had he been appointed tq referee the game. He considered that the Foxton Glub should have been notified by the Referees' Association the name.of the referee appointed. In reply, the chairman, Mr. A. Giilespie, stated that the ' domestic matters of the Referees' Associatipn had nqthing to do Y/ith" the management committee. Appearing before the ' committee, Richardson admitted the offence stating that he had been struck flve or six tipies and could np ipnger refrain frqm retaliating. A motion by Mr. C. E- Wiseley and sec.on.ded by Mr. J. D. McFarlane that Richardson be suspended for tliree plqying Saturdays was iost. «A further mofion by Mr. J.ohiir 'ston thatjie be w.arned lapsed fqr want of a seconder. That he be suspended for two pl.aying" jiaturdays was carried on the motion qf Mr. W. Neas and secpnded by' Mr. Robinson.
