DESTINATION IS PALESTINE “SOMEHOW”
Eeceived Friday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 12. About 12,000 fugitive Jews from the Balkans have arrived at Vienna in tlie last few weeks, nearly « all from Rumania, says the Timcs' Vienna correspondent. ' It is the Polish exodus oi last year repeated." They are the remnants of families massaered by the Germans. The Ameriean joint distribution committee is dealing with them while they await transport to the Ameriean zone. Thence they expect to go tlirough Franee or Italy to Palestine. They say tlie Rumanian people are still anti-semitic although the Government is not and tries in vain to stop the feeling. In one village a notice was posted sayingr "Don't let the Jews go. We will deal with them ours'elves. Such stories may have indueed an exaggerated terror but they f eel they must get out of Europe. They speak of Palestine as the place they will reacii "somehow".
