CONCRETE CRICKET PITCH
BOROUGH COUNCIL DECLINES CLUB'S REQUEST Stating that the turf of the ■ domain was unsatisfactory for cricket and suggesting that it be allowed to lay a cdncrete wicket at such a level that it would not affect the playing of football, a letter was received from the Otaki Cricket Club at Wednesday's meeting of the Otaki Borough Council. It was generally agreed that' to allow a concrete pitch would not be advisable. A suggestion was made that the* turf might be removed and matting laid, although it was admitted -that matting might be difficult to secure. It was pointed out that the domain would be available for cricketers after September 13, and agreed that the council might assist in the improvement oi the ground. The matter was referred to the domain commlttee, while the question of allowing sheep on the ground was left in the hands of Cr. Hakaraia.
