TEST GF SPORTS CAR IN SHANNON STREET - A demonstiation on the- capabilities of his high powered sports car ; by Mauri'ce Procter, , Wellington, ■fail'ed to impress the constable in- • the Shannon Police Station, in the vi'cinity of which Procter chose to carry out the test. He appeared befbre Mr. A. M. Goul'ding, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, Levin, this- . morning, charged with the offenee of dfiving in a dangerous manner. Sergeant W. Granger told the court that Constable B. Watson, of Shannon, had observed the can traveliing round' the Shannon streets and- broadsiding at each inteTsection. Near the main highway he had gone into a side skid at 25 m.p.h. and pulled up. Defendant had been quite courteous and .pad stated' that he had attended1 a wedding in Shannon that day, and was demonstrating his vehicle'scapabilities to a frend. Procter had . been traveliing in low gear at 30 m.p.h. and was "showing the car pff"' to his passenger. Mr. Goul'ding: I gather he was! demonstrating its power to stay on j the road? Mr. Bertram: Yes.
