CONTROL OF BLACK MARKET CAR PRICES
NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 10. A move to control used car prices and to prevent the resale of new model cars at black market prices, has been initiated by the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association as the result of a request from the Price Tribiraal. j A special contract has been drawn up by the association requiring th'e purchaser of a new car to undertake that if he desires to sell within one year, he will first offer the car to the retailer from whom it was hought. A scale of depreciation according to the time that the car has been used, has been drawn up by the association which has recommended that no. sale he made unless a contract is first entered into. It is understood that noSrly- all Taranaki dehlers have put ' the recommendation into force or intencl .to *do so. It was •claimed hy the dealers that the move will not only put a stop to black marketing of new cars but will also, in the long run, have a stabilising effeet on the sale of all used cars.
