BRITISH WHEAT HARVEST DOWN

Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 9. An agricultural correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the British grain harvest is nowr nearly completed. The final result is likely to show the wlieat yield down 25 to 30 per cent. compared with a normal year,..oats down 10 per cent. and barley about normal. The. loss in the wheat yield would have been greater if harvesting conditions had not been so favourable. The chief influences in decreasing the yield were late planting due to floods and a smaller acreage planted. Although many parts of England, Scotland and Wales reported iight rain during the week-end, thus officially ending the drought, dry pasture conditions continue to eause anxiety. Heavy and continuous rain is required to bring about any. noticeable improvement.
