Received Monday, 10 a.m NW YORK, Sept. 7. The international post-war spqnding spree for American made g-oods is all but over as the su.ddenly-developed, worldwide dollar shortage forces ' nation after nation to clamp down on United States imports,. says the Herald-Tribune's ijnancial writer. The result is Ihat the United States exportboom is in the process of being t badly deflated. ' ■ "Merchandise shipments averaging more than 1,260,000,000 dollars monthly have left our ports for export markets in the first half of 1947. The contraction now starting in this huge volume of export trade may snowball into one of the most important developments in our national economy this year. "After rising to the fantastic level of 15,000,000,000 dollars annually, or three times the pre-war volume, exports have slumped 200,000,000 dollars, or 13 per cent., in July.
