WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. "The executive of the Municipal Association of New Zealand is greatly concerned with the flagrant disregard by some motorists of trhffie regulations, " stated the President of the Association, Mr. E. E. Neale M.P., m a statement today. "Disregard by motorists of traffie restrietions on speed^, particularly in boroughs traversed by main highways, is a danger to the lives and health oi other road users besides the occupants of the oftending vehicles," Mr. Neale said. The association was very conscious of the excellent educational work being done by the Transport Department aijd other public spirited bodies such. as Junior Chambers of Commerce. His executive considered that the danger to pedestrians and road users generally could only be met by a prompt proseeution of all offenders, particularly in cases of excessive speeding, wherever evidenee could be got to support a prosecutidn, and further by the rigid enfolceMent of penalties against all oftenders who were found guilty on proseeution.
