NEW BRIDGE AT OTAKI SOUGHT

-An inquiry whether it was intended to . build a new bridge . across the Otaki River was made by Mr. Maher (N., Otaki/ in notice of- a question to the Minister of Works, Mr. Semple. He said the . Works Department was now widen- - ing the road from the Otaki River bridge right through the township of Otaki Railway. In a note to his question he said the present bridge was a one-way bridge, and he understood one . of the longfcst and oldest wooden bridges in the North Island. It was showing signs of sag between certain of its piers, and it was considered that a new bridge should be erected to meet- the large and increasingly heavy traffic on that highway.
