COLD SNAP IN GISBORNE

"GISBORNE, Sept. 3. A cold southerly storm swept the Gisborne district throughout the night, with wind gusts up to 5(1 m.p.h., but the gale caused little damage. In the hill country round Matawai up to two inches of snow fell. The planes from Auckland had a bumpy passage, the wind delay - ing their arrival by three-quarten of an hour.
