At Hokitika tonight the river has risen over the wharf owing to a bloyknge of the bar by a liigh sitnd banlv. The- streets are being flooded and it is repnrted tliat the waters need to rise unotlier foot before thev would suruiui'.nt the snndliank whidi has narrowed the exit fo the sea very greatly.
