MORE THAN AN INCH OF RAIN

HEAVY OVERNIGHT DOWNPOUR Heavy rain fell without ceasing throughout last night and this morning, flooding water channels and low-lying land. According to Mr. H. Harvey, of Cambridge Street, 1.15 inches of rain fell during the 24 hours ended 7 a.m. today. The total rainfall during August was 5.57 inches as compared with 6.11 inches during the same month last year. Rain fell on 19 days during the month. There were seven frosts, the heaviest being elg'ht degrees on August 21.
