Shipping and Immigrants
A very large number of intendmg settlers were. applying at New Zealand House in iLondon for details of the Gqvernment's immigration scheme, said Mr. H. L. Bockett, Secretary of Labour, who arrived by air from Vancouver. Mr,_ Bockett attended the Int-er-national Labour Office conference at Geneva. During his visit to England, he examined the organisation of the Ministry of Labour and discussed shipping transport problems with the staff of the High Commissioner, Mr. w. J. Jordan, and shipping companies. Mr. Bockett stated that shipping was proving the difficult hurdle for the immigration scheme.
