DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY

MANY NEW CONNECTIONS During the month 40 new consumers and 63 extensions had been connected, stated the Horowheua Electric Power Board's engineer, Mr. J. F. Bryce, in his mcnthly report to the board yesterday. These connections comprised the following: 33 lighting and heating installations, 30 ranges, one baking oven, 25 waterheaters, seven milking motors, four separator motors, four pump motors and 17 small industrial motors-. Applications had also been received for extensions to 87 existing installations, comprising 47 lighting and 61 heating points, seven ranges, four waterheaters, one milking motor, three separator motors, one 10 h.p. to replace a 5 h.p. motor on a drainage pump, one 5 h.p. to replace a 2 h.p. motor on a drainage pump, 16 small industrial motors and one ironing machine. During the period, 104 new single phase meters had been tested, and 21 single phase and polyphase meters had been cleaned, fepaired and re-tested.
