STATIONMASTER FAREWELLED
presentation by staff Prior to thelr leaving on Monday for Waipawa, where Mr. Creagh has been transferred to the position of statio'nmaster, )VIr. and Mrs. J. Creagh 'were entertained by members of the local railway station staff on Friday evening. Speaking on behalf of the staff, the newly-appointed stationmaster, Mr. a. North, expressed regret that Mr. and Mrs. Creagh were leaving the district, and wished them every success and happiness in their new home. Mr. North then asked Mr. and Mrs. Creagh to accept an occasional table and a wall mirror as a small mark of appreciation from the members of the staff. Messrs. Rasmussen, Hobbs and Parr also spoke on similar lines. Mr. Creagh, on behalf of Mrs. Creagh . and himself, expressed sorrow at having to leave such an efficient staff, and thanked them for their co-operation during the tlme he was stationmaster at Shannon. Mr. Creagh also tendered sincere thanks for the handsome and most useful gifts. They would serve as a lasting reminder of many happy hours spent together with his staff at Shannon.) Mr. and Mrs. Creagh have been j awaiting confirmation of the pro- j motion for some months, and dur- j ing that period have been the recipients of a number of farewell, gifts and good wishes from vari- , ous organisations in the town. Both Mr. and Mrs. Creagh took an j active part in the social life of the district during their stay in Shan- | non, and they will be greatly missed by the organisations with which they have' been connected.
