The marriage of June Haver to trumpet player Jimmy Rito points out an amazing parallel between the careers of June and an other top 20th Century-Fox star, Bettyj Grable. When June's surprise . marriage in the middle of her film assignment "Scudda Hoo, Scudda j Hay," reminded Hollywood of Betty's surprise marriage to trumpet man Harry James, someone looked into the record to spot other similarities. Both started their climbs with the encouragement and guidance of mothers who recognised their talents at an early age. Betty started dancing lessons when she was four; June started music les- . sons when she was five. Both were brought to Hollywood while still in their teens. Both sang professionally with name orchestras. Oddly enough, both began with Ted Fio Rito, who signed June . because she reminded him of S Betty. Both blonde, blue-eyed and with beautiful figures, were signed by"20th Century-Fox.
