WHRERE THERE'S A WOOL THERE'S A WAY

From as far afield as Paekakariki and Palmerston North came women to purchase wool on sale in a local shop yesterday. A lbng queue formed outside the shop and was gradually absorbed by the relays of girls working at high pres*r sure behind the circular counter. As some were served others filled' their places in the queue, and altogether 200 customers, all women, were supplied. Underlying a scene of quiet dignity was all the suppressed*"dx£itement of the sale of a hard-to-get item. Customers were shepherded through the door in lots of 15, and were permitted to buy only 14 skeins, one colour only being allowed each customer.' The wool was all sold by 3 p.m.
