WELLINGTON, August 21. ; The sale' of petrol in co-ntainers without a permit is illegal as from August 22, announced the Minister of Supply, Mr. Nordineyer, tonight. The Minister explained that permission to 'sell petrol in containers would be granted in cases where containers were neeessary to enahle farmers and others to carry on their normal business. 0, "This step has been taken >;tb' counter the run on petrol stations during the last few days. We cannot alford to have our stocks of petrol jeopardised hy wholesale hoarding - for any purpose, ' ' the Minister said. Applieations for permits should he made to the local sub-district oil fuel controller.
