WOOL IN DEMAND
CROWDS SWARM SHOP A small notice in a local draper's shop window announcing "Wool, 2.15 p.m. Thursday" attracted the largest crowd seeh in the store since a pre-war Christmas Eve. When the store opened at 1.30 p.m. after the lunch peribd there was quite a number of people at the door, and by zero hour it was almost impossible to move past the doorway. The number of cars parked outside almost needed a traffic offlcer to control them. However, the gathering disappeared almost as quickly as it had come, as one by one the women received their quota and it was not long before business returned 'to normal and Shannon resumed its usual quiet self.
