PRISONERS SENTENCED

GISBORNE, Aug. 15. Prisoners were sentenced by Mr. Justice Smith in the Supreme Court today. Two years' probation was granted to Potene Awatere, who had pleaded guilty to forgery and uttering. Lawrence Charles Lawson for breaking, entering and theft received two years' reformative detention. Sonny Taukamo, on charges of breaking, entering and theft, and false pretences, was given two years' -reformative detention. Lewi Thompson Wilson, who was convicted of failing to stop after an accident and render aid, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. His license was cancelled ! and he was prohibited from obtaining another next year.
