RENOWN THEATRE

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Walter Wanger's fabulous technicolour production, "Night in Paradise," comes to the Renown Theatre on Friday and Saturday. Starring Merle Oberon and Turhan Bey, the lavish new film is said to be reminiscent of such great screen spectacles as "Intolerance," De Mille's "Ten Commandments" and "Ben Hur" in the splendour of its 550 B.C. setting. Adapted by Emmet Lavery from the novel "Peacock's Feather" by George S. Hellman, the story deals entertainingly with the affav'S of Croesus, Aesop the fable.man and a glamorous Persian Princess. Miss Oberon has the latter role. Turhan Bey is seen as Aesop, while Thomas Gomez appears in the role of Croesus, world's richest monarch. •
