AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. The medical profession here strongly resents th? recent statements by membtrs of the Auckland i Hospital Board that some doctors "are not doing all the work for which they are paid." One practitioner said, "The sooner the board tackles its own problems and stops 'passing the buck' the better." This summarised other practitioners' comment. While none denied the board members' allegations outright, the majority made the point that if any doctors were "rushing through their work" they were in a very small minority. The majority of doctors interviewed said that their waiting rooms were so overcrowded with patients with serious complaints that they had not time, nor- facilities to deal with "panic-stricken individuals" with minor ailments. It was -claimed that tho board did not appreciate just how much doctors were doing. They averaged 12 hours daily; sometimes working up to 16 hours. They could not do more.
