. SYDNEY, August. 11. A seventy-nine-vear-old wonian, deseribed as a wealthy widow, for whom the police had been searching dunng the weekend, was within their reach all the time, though they did not lind this out till late last night. She was in Long Bav Gaol, awaitmg trial on a charge of shoplifting. The woinan left the home of friends where she was Jiving in the exclusive suburb of Double Bay last IiLday.^ When she did not return the friends' uotified th« police. In doing so they gave such details of her connections that it was not deenied necessarv to eheck the police records. Last night, however, when plans were being macle to intensify the search, the police records were consulted. It appeaied that the woman had given her correet uame when charged with shoplifting, and had been remanded in eustody to aDoear next week.
