Pci'soiirI Miss R. Gilmer has taken up her residence in Wellington. Mrs. Alex. Wilson yesterday entered a private hospital at Wellington to undergo an operatiom Misses Holmes, Babbington Avenue, have returned from a vacation in Wellington. Miss Beatrix Harper, sub-matron of the Home for Blind Children in Auckland, has been visiting relatives in Otaki. . Mrs. F. A. Brewster has been called to Auckland owing to the sudden illness of her mother, Mrs. FJBrown, Mt. Albert. The funeral of the late Mr. Charles Nees, of Manakau, look place yesterday afternoon .and was largely attended, exemplifying the high esteem in which he was held throughout the district. A service was conducted at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Kuku, by Rev. Father Reader, of Otaki, who late.r officiated at the graveside. The cortege to the Manakau Cemetery comprised some 40 cars, and a number of beautiful • floral tributes covered the casket. The pallbearers were Messrs. L. Bevan, N. Bevan, J. Bryant, F. Fanning, F. Corbett and W. Nees.
