BREACHES ON THE ROAD Failure to- dip his veliiclfe's lights to an oncohiing car was a charge preferred against Murray Alfred Brown ih the Magistratfe's Court, Levin, on Friday. He was convicted and firied 10S by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M. A flne of £3 10s, with 10s court costs, was imposed on John Edward Hodgson, of Feilding, who was charged with driving at a dangerous speed. Exceeding 30 miles an hour in a restricted area, failure to possbss a warrant of fitness, and failing to have the motor-cycle he was riding equipped with an effective silencer, were charges preferred against Lewis Henry Mungavin, Ohau. On the first charge he was convicted and fined £2 and 10s for each of the other offences, with 10s court costs in each case. Conway Owen Neely, airman, of Auckland, paid a penalty of £5 on a charge of exceeding the maxU mum speed limit for a heavy motor vehicie. It was stated by Traffic Inspector M. Kehoe that he had ehecked defendant's speed for haif a mile, as the vehicie, a heavy benzine tanker, was passing through Weraroa. It was travellihg at 50 m.p.h. Defendant stated that he was in a hurry to get to Wellington, and had been driving lorg houts. When imposing the flne, the magistrate allowed him six weeks in Which to pay. Exceeding the speed limit in a restricted area cost John Crawford Flett, of Wellington, £3 and court costs 10s. A fine of 2s 6d was imposed on Herold John Card on, a charge of having no warrant of fitn'ess for his vehicie. Traffic Inspector Kehoe stated that he had noticed defendant's car parked in Oxford Street. It had only one light burning, the glass of the other being out. A warrant of fitness had now been issued to him. Court costs were 10s. Allowing four cows to be at large on the road at Manakau without proper guidance or order was the charge preferred against Albert Victor Hornig, of Manakau. He was fined £1, with court costs 10s. Failure to display "L" plates and rot being in p'cssession of a warrant of fitness for his motor-cycle cost * Cyril Alfred Anderson, mechanic, Foxton, £3 — £1 on each charge and 10s costs in each case. Charged with not having a warrant of fitness for his machire, and being in possession of the wrong class of driving licence, resulted in another mfechanic of , Foxton, Macaight ArthUr Reid being fined £1 ard 10s coSfcs on each charge: •
