LIQUOR NEAR DANCE HALLS
>-: — • — rt-r — SEVERAL OFEENDERS FINED Charged- with having liquor in their possession in the vicinity of a dance hall at Ohau on jiily 4, John Joseph Ahern and Ivan Sam- | uel John Wylie, both of Otaki, were each convicted and fined £3 in the Magistrate's Court, Levin, yesterday. Court costs in each case amounted to 12s. • On a similar charge in regard to the Regent Hall on July 18 Sydney Vivian - Martin Cole, flock merchant, WeHington, and Keith Tan Christiansen, driver, of Wellington, were each fined £3. The police gave evidence that they saw ■ Christiansen ' in a car, owned by Coie, which was parked in the vicinity of the Regent dance hall, Levin. The defendant Cole was drinking from a bottle of beer, and there were eight quart bottles in a carton in the rear of the vehicle. Court costs amounted to 10s, and an order was made for the confiscation of the liquor.
