FAT SHEEP VALUES RISE
WEEKLY SALE IN LEVIN There was a shorter yarding of fat ewes and fat hoggets, with a consequent appreciation of values on late rates at the Levin stock sale yesterday. Fat'wethers were slightly in over-supply and did. not appreciate to the same marked ?xtent, although one * good * line made 47s lOd. There was a small yarding of store sheep, with some aged in-lamb ewes making 29s. Small ewe hoggets, off the sand hills, made 25s 3d. Medium wether hoggets off the same country orought 29s ld. Vealers - .were again in short supply and the few penned met with very keen competition. Two trucks of heavyweight ox, averagmg about 900 lbs., realised £23 17s 6d. Light heiiers ranged from £9 17s 6cl to £11 7s 6d. Prime P.A. cows brought values comparable with those ruling last week. There was a larger yarding of dairy cattle, with some good sorts ma-king -up to £16. A small yarding of pigs were keenly sought, with stbres selling up to £3 9s. Following is a range of prjces realised: — Fat sheep: Prime wethers, 46s 4d to 47s lOd; medium do., 42s ld to 45s 4d; light do., 41s 4d to 39s 4d; prime ewes, 38s lOd to 39s ld; medium do., 34s 4d to 38s 7d; light and unfinished, down to 27s 4d; prime hoggets, 39s ld to 40s 7d: medium do., 35s 4d to 37s 7d; light and unfinished do., down to 3lS; orime lambs, 41s 7d; medium do,, 36s 4d to 37s 4d; light do., 28s lOd o 29s lOd. Store sheep: Aged ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 25s ld to 29s; small ewe hoggets, 25s 3d; wether hoggets, 25s ld. to 29s ld; Wether lambs, 24s 6d. Fat cattle: Extra prime ox, £23 7s
6d to £23 17s 6d; prime heifers, £10 17s 6d to £14 12s 6d; prime P.A. cows, £13 7s 6d to £14 2s 6d; lighter do., down to £10 17s 6d; prime vealers, £9 12s 6d to £10 12s 6d; medium do., £6 7s 6d to £8 2s 6d; light do., down to £4 17s 6d; runners, £6 7s 6d to £10 17s 6d; exdairy cows, £6 12s 6d to £8 7s 6d. Dairy cattle: August calving heifers, £14 10s to £16 10s; heifers, just calved, £14; August calving cows, £15 10s to £16 10s; later calving do., £8 5s to £11 5s; bulls, £10 7s 6d.'
