In a bright (lisplay of seconilary soliool Rugby, Horo whenua Cojlege. le feated Feilding Agrieuitural High Sehool on Saturday by 17 — 14. Feild ing had the superior fonvard eombina tion which was working well and liad good eontrol of the ball but Horo; whenua 's backline had always to be reckoned with and they highjighted the match with several bright passing rushes. Cook, the Horowhenua full back, Royal at half, sj,nd Lambevt and Mudge on the wings, were the best representatives of the baeks while Hohipuha, Clark and Leddra held the forwards together. Playing for Feilding McDonald. at full back, Fergugsqji at centre and Collins and Couper on the wi^gs were always prominent,- and Gibbs and Matthews were the pick of the forwards. Altogether the teams were well matched. Horowhenua 's poiuts came from iive tries aud a conversion, aud Feilding 's- from four tries and a conversiQn, Horowhenua had chalked ijp a good nine points with tries by Royal, Hohipuha and Mudge before Couper, the Feilding winger, stepped in to close the breacli for Feilding. From a line rucking movement on the halfway Jine Fergusson secured possession and dashed down the sideline, inpassed to Couper who carried on to eross the lino in the corner The tvy was not con/erted, Horowhenua 9, Feilding 8, Rain again raised the flags t'or Feilding. Leddra increased Horowhenua 's lead when he forced his way*over from a ruck in front of Feilding 's goal but once again Couper stepped in with another try and Horowhenua were not able to irierease their leading- margin till the last few miuutes of the match, Lambert, Horowhenua 's winger secured the ball from loose play in midfield and mqved down Feilding 's territory to the twenty-five where he was tackled. Various baeks made unsuccessful attempts to secure the ball until Hohipuha scooped it up and went over. Lambert added the extra points. Horowhenua 17, Feilding 9. Another try for Feilding by Gibbs in a snappv movement by the forwards added another three points to Feild ing's total, MePonald converted and with the final whistle Levin had a three point lead. over Feilding — Levin 17, Feilding 14.
