RALWAY WAGONS FROM BRITAIN
WELLINGTON, July 31. The first 50 of 3000 rail ivav wagon> on order from the United Kingdom wil. arrive in New Zealand next week. An•tlier shipnient. of 150 vvagons is expected toWards the. end of the rnonth and from then on the Railway Department hopes to »have regular monthly increments to its rolling stock. The first shipment is aboard the Bnsoane Star ilue at Auckland on P'.iursday. It will be taken to the South Island where the need for rolling itock is most urgent. The wagons wili be assembled in New Zealand'. They ire the LA type with open tops ana :iuve a loading capacity of about 12 tons. The second shipment is aboara Uie Orari. It will be distributed between both islands. The total order is one of the largest ever placed in Britain by the New Zealand Railway Department.
