Australia today sought an im~ mediate meeting of the SeSUrity Council with the_ object of taking action under Article 39 of United Nations Charter, to end the fighting in Ihdonesia. Eariier India had also formally sought United Nations' intervention in the conflict but her application was made under Article 35 relating to the pacific settlements of disputes. The Council's current president, Dr. Oscar Lange (Poland), told reporters that the case would be treated a's a -matter of • urgency and he intended to dispense With the three days' notice of new business which Was normally required, addmg that it was possible the Council might meet tomorrow.
