A. Salrnond when speaking to the annual meetihg of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Mr. Salrnond teviewed some aspects of the work of St. Andrew's^ and expresSdd his gteat appreciation for the loyalty of the offlce-bearers of the church, and the diligence and faithfulness of the staffs of the Suriday Schools. Bodley, acting session clerk, said that the ordinances Of public worship had been fai'thfuliy nlaiiitained. The passing of Mf. William Davie • had removed an elder of long sta'nding who had heid the ofllce of session clerk with great. acceptance and distinction for many years. The meeting ' endorsed the proposal of the session and ma'nagers to institute a memorial in the church to the memory of the late Mr. Davie, and instructed the board of managers to move in the matter. The session had given thought to the more eflective teaching of temperance- in. the Sunday Schools and Bible Classes, and had noted fche plans assembly had made for meeting the spifitual needs of new housing areas. Attendances at the quarrerly observance of the Sacrament had been 112, 92, 101 and 86, said Mr. Bodley. j When presenting the report of the boafd of mahagers,. Mr. M. J. Munro indicated that the open 1 plate collections at public worshipj unsolicited donations and gifts from church organisations had provided sufflcient money to meet ali local needs, and to contribute £118 0s 6d to missionary enterprise and the wider Wotk of the Pfesbyterian Church of New Zealand. The building and maintenance ' fund, which the board had opened at the inStructions of the 1946 annual congregational meeting, was in a satisfactoty condition, said Mr. Munro. No major works had been done, but a cohsiderable amount of the necessary improvements had been carried out by voluhtary effort. The board asked for the continued close co-operation and generous support of alL members and friends of St. Andrew's.
