PLEASANT CARD EVENING

^ GIRL GUIDES' FUNCTION A very enjoyable evening was held on Monday, when the home oi Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Purvis, Waerenga Road, was fllled with card and Mah Jong players. The party, which was held to provide funds for the newly-formed Otaki Girl Guide Company, was most successful, and as a result the company will benefit considerably. The thanks of the committee are exiended to all those who gave donations, prizes and crockery. Special thanks are due to Mrs. McBeth, who collected and transported the tables and chairs, and to Mr. and Mrs. Purvis for the use of their home. Prizes were won by Mrs. Coventry, Mrs. Brewster and Mr. Kirkwood (bridge) ; Mrs. H. Cole, Mrs. Newdick and Mrs. Merwood (5001.; Miss Smith (Mah Jong), and Mrs. Boggs (euchre) .
