LORD MOUNTBATTEN'S APPEAL TO PRINCES
Received Sunday, 7.10 p.m. NEW DELHI, July 26. An appeal to the Indian States to join with one or the other of the nev. Tndian Dominions was made by Lord Mountbatten at a conference of Indian prinees and their representatives. Th.three subjects of defence, external il'fairs and communic.ations, he said, Imd to be handled for the States for ; heir convenience and advantage by the two larger organisations, and if the States did not. link up with ofie or other of the Dominions they would be cut ofl' from any source of supplies 0. up-to-date arms or weapons. If nothing can be put^ in its plac.e only chaos can result and the chaos will hurt the Uates first.
