HAPPY CELEBRATION
BIRTHDAY AND ENGAGEMENT . PARTY aA very enjoyable time was spent on Saturday night at the residence of Mrs. Knowles, Oxford Street, when a party was held to celebrate the 22nd birthday and engagement of.her eldest daughter, Daphne, to Herbert Raymond Pickering, formerly of Levin and now of Marl- | borough. Some 30 guests were entertained and the supper table was beautifuliy decorated with large bowls of spring flowers. Pride of place in the centre of the table was given to the handsomely iced cake.
