Thieves Become Potential Citizens In ihe last two days four men had become potential citizens of New Zealand through a process of thieving, said Mr. Justice Cornish in the Supreme Court, Wellington, yesterday when sentencing two seamen who had pleaded guilty to theft. His Honour said tnat the previous day he had sentenced another two seamen. His remark was prompted by the statement of counsel for one of the accused that che two men had lost their jobs 011 heir ship for their offence. Face Cream or Just Cream? Mr. A. S. Sutherland (Nat., Hauraki) gave notice in the House yesterday to ask the Minister-in-Charge of Rationing, why, in view of ihe aifhculty of parents in obcaining cream for their children, a Canadian wrestler now in New Zealand was permitted a daily ration of a pint of cream. Mr. Sutherland said that in the past only those persons presenting a medical certificate could obtain a cream ration. It was understood cliat the permit was issued to the wrestler in question, but whether for medical reasons or not was unxnown. „ ..... xNo More Pork for Rotorua The Rotorua Master Butchers Association has resolved that after August 1 no pork will be retailed m the shops of members. "We aave seen it coming for a long time, but we have been trying to stall it oif for as long as possible," said Mr. /. Bryant, the secretary. Revolver and Juvenile Financiers The sale of a revolver by a pupil jf ihe Avondale Technical High School to another pupil was related ; m the Auckland Police Court yesterday when John Harvey, a quarryman, pleaded guilty to being illegally in possession of a revolver. The police evidence was that delendant's 14-year-old son obtained uhe revolver and ammunition from his parents' home. without their Knowledge and took it to school. He sold it for £10 to a 15-year-old pupil, also receiving a home-made iadio as part payment. The pupil purchaser had his own banking account from which he drew £10. For defendant it was stated that ihe revolver was a war souvenir. Defendant was fined £3.
