WATERSIDERS STAY AWAY
AUCKLAND, July 24. Watersider workers einploved in the Shaw Savill and Albion line motor ship Waiwera failed to return to th> ship this afternoon after a stopwork meeting of the Auckland brauch of the Waterside Workers' Union. The union is cdainiing payment from 1 p.m. to u p.m. on Wednesday for men working in one of the Waiwera 's holds, who were disniissed at noon that dav after re i'nsing to lay dunnage. This action was linked with. the withdrawal of th-. casual carpenters from the hold th.u morning as part of the claim by the ship carpenters' section of tlie unio>: for extra pay.
