Mrs. .Crowe,' of Palmerston North, who has been the guest of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B. Clayton, has returned to her home. , ' Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. V. J. .Bateman, Grand Street, were Mrs. B. G. Bateman and Mrs. J. Bennett, both of Westport, and Mr. J. B. Bateman, of Taihape. Pte. Bernard Sands, a nephew of Mrs. R. Roberts, Vogel Street, who returned with J-Force personnel and has been staying with Mrs. Roberts, left on Sunday for Napier. Beautifying Business The proprietor of a Ballance Street business, continuing his policy of improving the appearance of ■ his premises, has recently planted- about three dozen named rose bushes in a strip of ground between the building and the metalled driveway giving access to the baek of the premises. When in flower this will provide a bright vista for pedestrians, as well as the passing motorists, for this garden fronts one of the town's main thoroughfares.
