WEEKEND GOLF AT OTAKI
Fine. sunny weather, broken only by a; heavy shower on Sunday, greeted all golfers on the Otaki links last weekend. Some very good cards were returned on Saturday, several thereby gaining a reduction in their handicaps. The bogey competitio'n was won by N. D. Anderson with a fine card of two up. On Sunday, in the third round of the competition for the Captain's Trophy, T. Webster beat Z. Gray, J. Winterburn beat W. Morton and A. Harper beat F. Mayman. In the semi-ftnal, to be played at a later date, Webster will play Winterburn and Rzoska will meet Harper. This Saturday the qualifying round for the Len Shepherd Memorial Cup will be played, the lowest 16 nett scores qualifying. The second round of the Doney D'Ath Memorial competition must be completed this weekend. Matches not played off by Sunday night will be decided by the captain. The first step is being taken towards beautifying the course this season: 200 Benthams are to be planted along the weslern boundary, and all tree lovers are asked to attend a working bee next Sunday morning to plant these trees. Players are notified that the return match with the Levin Club will be played on August 3.
