WET WEATHER GOLF
^ ON THE LINKS AT BUCKLEY Winter golfing conditions, with wet fairways and heavy greens, were the order of the day at Buckley over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon a stroke competition was held and the following are .the results of cards handed in: E. T. Wiison 70, W. Stern 73, F. Picard 75, J. Bell 75, K. Thomson 75, R. Harding 79, H. Mabey 79, H. Pope 80, H. Stern 84, R. Rasmussen 84, H. Karena 80, S. Gledhill 85, J-. Baker 85 and C. Booker 88. In a very interesting match in the Goldfinch and Cousins' Cup series played over the weekend, N. Mabey defeated V. Picard on the last green. The first match of the senior championship series was also played over the weekend, when E. T. Wiison defeated K. Thomson three up and two to play. Adverse weather conditions did not prevent the "top dogs" taking the field when the holders, Bill Stern and Jack Mabey, succeeded in upholding their title by warding off a challenge from F. Picard and Harry Karena after a very interesting match, the holders winning by oue up.
