Personal Mr. and Mrs. Vic. Npble- are among the visitors from Otaki to Lower Hutt. ' * '• • • The death occurred oh Friday, at Petone, at the age of 36 years, of Mr. David Nimmo Walker, brother of Mr. R. Kyle, Oraki Railway. - The death occurfed oh Thursday of Mr. B. L. (Bert) Hammond, a weil-known Wellington resident, and who was well-known in Otaki. Mr. Hammond, who was largely interested in racing circles and art unions, was 55 years of age. A quiet wedding was solemnised in Wellington recently, when Mary Taylor, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Taylor, Otaki, was married to Gordon Thomas, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thistleton, Lonbridge," Kent, England. The happy young couple received many telegrams of congratulations from their many friends. Later the young couple left by plane for the south, the bride travelling in a smart tailored costume with brown hat, with shoes, gloves and handbag to tone. Their future home will be in Nelson. Basketball Dance On Friday next the Otaki Textiles Basketball Club will hold a dance in the Raukawa Hall. There will be excellent music and a good supper, and all who attend are assured of an enjoyable evening. Indoor Basketball The indoor basketball fixtures for Wednesday are: 7.0, B.T.C. (A) v. B.T.C. (B) ; 7.20, Combined v. Raukawa; 7.40, Otaki v. Raukawa (B) ; 8.0, Aces Spades v. Aces Hearts; 8.20, Raukawa (A) v. Wanderers (B) ; 8.40, Tuis v. H.M.S.; Wanderers (A) , a bye, Music Festival The music festival to be held in the Civic Theatre on Wednesday evening will draw a large crowd, booking from various parts of the district being heavy, while even from further afield a number of visitors are expected. The programme will be sure to delight, .and those who missed the recent matinee should on no accojmt be absent on Wednesday. Earfy booking is advised. Condition of Church A prompt response had been obtained from ;the, Natiyq Mmjst&r (Mr. Fraser) when me present' condition of the Rangiatea Maori Church, at Otaki, one of the most historic in the Dominion, was brought to his notice, the Dioeesan Synod was informed by the Rev. Paora Temuera, of Otaki. Plans were being formulated, the speaker said, to celebrate the church's centenary in;two; years; time.
