PALESTINE COMMITTEE ENDS HEARINGS

The United Nations Committee kearings 011 Palestine ended yesterday and in a review of what he calls "the im pact of the problem on the delegates, " Ihe Times ' Jerusalem correspondent says that whereas a week ago they were leaning towards a bi-natioaai State, there had now been a slighi swing towards foruiing a Jewish State through partitiou. Those who were basically in favour of a bi-national State — nuiubering perliaps four or five at present — do not in tuni agree on it.-. composition for oue would have a State with a parity, another with Arab.mainly. Another two are inclined to tliink in terins of cantons or antonom ous provinces combined with a trustee ship. Those who have been consider •ng partitiou are. mainly agreed that Negev should go to the Jews but are by no means certaiu about Galiiee. ■
