ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES!
LONBON, July 16.. Yet another cali for tiigher production has been made to Britons. Asking able-'bodied men and women to "Bool up their slejves,' ' Mr Harry Edwards, veteran docker, presiding at a conference of the Transport ahd Gejieral Worlrers' Union, made three points. Firstly: We are still face to face with a continuance of siustere conditions with little immediate prospect of any substantial relief. Secondly: This concerns everyone in Britain and should impress all with the need to pull their weight. Thirdly: A united national effort is the only way to overcome our diffiI culties, to fill up the home market to pay for those goods and services on which we depend, from other nations. Mr. D. Macneill, a Preston bus driver, later emphasisqd" Mr. Edwards' call. "If we are faeing another Dunkirk," he said, "we. should see that there are no drones in the hive of Britain."
