FOREST FIRE WITH 70-MILE FRONT

■Press Association

By Telegraph-

Received Tuesday, 11 p.m. NEW YORK, July 14. A forest fire on the Kenai Peninsula is advancing tonight onva 70-mile front, states a message from Anchorage, Alaska. The flames, whipped by heavy winds, are moving towards the settlement of Kasilof, menacing many homes, rich timberlands and wild life but Kasilof itself, surrounded by swamps and cleared land, should not be in danger. The chief of the Alaska Fire Control Service, Mr. R. R. Robinson, stated that the fire had damaged more than 300,000 acres of spruce forests. Army fire maps showed 400 spot fires on the peninsula with smoke rising 15,000 feet.
