TASMAN AIR MAIL SENT BY ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
AUCKLAND, July 14. Mails normally earried aeross the Tasman by aircraft of Tasman Empire Airways, Ltd., have not b.een held in Auckland in spite pf thp interruption of the air sprvice since late last week. Alternative means of gending th.em have been found, although there has been no inward airmail from Australia to Auckland since last Friday nor lia> the Chief Post Oflice, Auckland, any advice of the resumption of this service. Some of the mail for Australia and a number of points beyond, was sent from Auckland on Saturday morn ing by the motor-ship Tuscan Star, which is due in Sydney tomorrow morn ing. A fnrther quantity for United Kingdom and Johannesburgh was sen: on Sunday by a Sunderland of tlie Royal New Zealand Air F.orce to Suva to connect with the north-bound Skymaster of Australian National Air ways on the trans-Pacifle s.ervice. This mail will be earried aeross the Pacilic, Canpda and Atlantie instea.d of following the ' ' Kangaroo " route. A third lot of mail addresged to Austra lia and points beyond, hut .exclpding dispatches for United Kingdom and. Johannesburg, which has accunrulated after the gailing of .the Tuscan Star, also trpv.elled by Air For.ee Sunderland to Suva on Sunday. It will be earried 4own to Sydn.ey by the south-bound Skymaster on the British Pacifie service. Accumulated .putwar.d-bound airmajl has l?.een almost completely cleared as the r.esult of the use of alternative in,ethods of dispptch.
