Personal , ^ The funeral of the late Mr. Henry Bevan todk place at Palmerston North yesterday, when there was a representative attendance, ' among the number being relatives and friends from Otaki and Levin. , Among the visitors to Otaki during the week were Mrs. Kempton and Miss Kempton, of Carterton. The latter, who is president of the W.D.F.F. in Carterton, is the' district's delegate to the confererice at Wellington. Both Mrs. and Miss Kempton left for the city today. Rivers Up Again Owing to the recent rainfall the rivers in the district have been carrying more than their normal quantity of water. Accident On Mill Road At about 10.30 on Salurday nlght a car driven by Mr. Errol Lloyd Biciveno, of Levin, travelling west, and a car driven by Mr. David L. Dennison, of Otaki, came into collision, with the result that both cars were damaged, but there were no personal injuries to the occupants of either car. Paraparaumu Airport Surveys are being made by the Government at Paraparaumu to ascertain what iextensions, if any, should be made to the airport there. As these surveys iflclude land which was to have been auctioned in lots, the vendors have been asked to defer the sale until

the report on the surveys is available. This was explained by the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr. Jones). A notice of intention to take land was published in the Gazette, the area mentioned being 50 acres. "Chuckles With Jerry" There was a large attendance at the Civic Theatre on Friday night for the entertainment, "Chuckles with Jerry." The various items delighted, there being an almost continuous round of laughs. The comedy interludes pleased, being cleverly carried out, while the dances.by Miss Betty Paynter were features of the evening. The musical monologues5 of Miss Alice Bennetto were warmly applauded. The ventriloquial acts were cleverly done, while the singing by the various, artists was splendidly received. Tricks performed by Gebrge Tollerton were mystjfying.
