AUCKLAND, July 11. Mr. Oharles Frederick Goldie, O.B.E., oue of New ; Zealand.'s most not'ed artists, died at- Lis •hbme in tjpland Road, -Remuera,, today at the age. of 76. Mr. Goldie woir renown, ag. a painter specialising in Maori studies and some of his works were e.\hibi.ted in the Royal Academy and the Paris Salon. His paintings were widely sold in Europe and America as well as within the Dominion. Mr. Goldie was marri,ed in 1920 to Miss Olive Cooper, of Melbourue. He was awarded the O.B.E. in 1935. He had been in failing health since 1940 and is survived by Mrs. Goldie.
