KIMBERIEY'S JULY MEETING There was a smaller attendance than usual at the- July meeting of the Kimberley Women's Institute. The president, Mrs. Dome, welcomed members and friends. Apologies for absence were receiv- 3 ed from Mesdames Coulson, Griffith, Hudson and Kissane. A motion of- sympathy' was ; passed with Mr. C. ArcUs and fam- • ily in the death of Mfs. Arcus, all . members standing in silence and : the secretary being asked to convey the message to them. It was decided *to hold the Sep- ; tember meeting on the 10th owing ; tb the institute group rally being set down for the usual meeting : day. An invitation was receiyed from the Ohau Ladies' Guild for members to be present at an afternoon on July 24 at 2 p.m. in the Ohau Hall. Arrangements were made for members to travel by bus to Palmerston North on July 23 to view the exhibition of arts and prafts from overseas. The hostesses, Mesdames Evans, Field and Fanning, served a dainty afternoon tea after which Mrs. Hutton was introduced to the gathering. She gave a Yery interesting demonstration on poker work, receiving a bunch of violets and vote of thahks, proposed by Mrs. McLean. The competitions were won as follows: — Bes't flower: Mrs. Evans 1, Mrs. Field 2, Mrs. Dome 3. Best spray: Mrs. Hagan 1, Mrs. Evans 2, Mrs. Aitcheson 3. President's competition (pot plant) : Mrs. Crowe 1, Mrs. Aitcheson 2, Mrs. Evans 3. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. The next meeting will be a social I afternoon with a stall for funds.
