EXCELLENT RECORD OF THE . ... LATE CR. CURRAN At the t f ortnightly meeting of the Shannon Borougn Council on Tuesday evening the Mayor (Mr. R. E Downes) and' all eouncillors expressed "regret at the sudden death of Cr. james Curran. In his remarks, the Mayor said that Cr. Curran had 'served faithfully as a councilior for* 16 years, and his devotion to duty was shown during that period when he was aosent from meetings on only eight occasions. This was an outstanding record. The late Cr. Curran Was chairman of the reserves committee, and was one of the eouncillors who had worked so hard and devoted much of his time to the betterment of domain ana reserves of Shannon. He was a prime mover in having the garden plots in Plimmer Terrace arrangea. His devodon to sport had caused him to have more than a passing mterest in the domani, and it was through Cr. Curran's efforts that the cycle track and other faciiitie's were completed. The late Cr. Curran was the founder of the Fire Brigade and 'its lirst superintenaent and liie member. At the time of his passing he was the council's representative on the Fire Brigade Committee. He had always observed a high standard of moral rntegrity and his word was his oond. An members of the council present spoke in the same high terms of their deceased colleague. A motion of sympathy was carried in silence ahd the town cierk was asked to convey to Mrs. Curran and family deepest sympathy.
