Yalerie Burgess, of Christchurch, New Zealand, flnished third in the women 's 440 vard's event at the opening night of the international roller skating cliampionships at Oakland: William Travis (Christchurch) was sixth in the men's ligure skating. Mrs. .Toyce Allc'hurch (Christchurch) with 414 points, and Miss Jean IWcNulty (Dunedin), 401.S points, were respectively sixth and seventh in a field of seven contestants for the women 's international ligure championshi]). Palricia Carrol (TLB.A.) took the lead with ."50710 points. rhui(ly Allchurch (Christchurch) ran third in the first lieat of the men's 440yards speed trials. Yalerie Burgess was third in the 830 yards event. won by Marv Lou I Dauer, of Cincinnati. Mr. and Mrs. A. Allchurch were third in the world pairs ligure skating won by Margaret Wallaee and Norman Latin, of Brooklyn. Frank Lamb, of Loudon, England, won the men's world two-mile roller skating speed championship.
