WOMEN'S INSTITUTES
LEVIN'S JULY MEETING There was a very good attendanee of members and friends at the July meeting of the Levin Women's Institute. The president, Mrs. Kellaway, weleomed aii. Several apologies for absence were r.eCeived. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs. Aim and family in the bereavement they had suffered thrpugh the death of Mr. Aim, members standing in silenee. Mrs. Nichol gave the thought for the month, which was "friendship consists- of forgetting what one gives and remembering only what one.receives." On June 26 a party of 50 meibers paid a visit to the New Zealand Woolpack and Texdlejs- factory at Foxton. Everyone was loud in their praise of the industry they had seen, and of the courtesy and attendanee shown them. Arrangements were made for members to visit the Levin Farm, Kimberley Road, and for a party to travel tp Palmerston North on July 23 to see the British ari pxhfbition. The bus for this latter trip leaves from Bath Street at 9.30 a-m. The cpmpetidon for overseas parcels was won' by Mrs. Trotman, the prize , being donated by Mrs. Shaw. Other donors of prizes have been Mesdames Dalton, Maugham and Milne. The roll call, "What X would like Another Member tp teach Me," was interesting and amusing to everybody. Mrs. Perigo gave an elocutionary item, ."Thg Glory of the Garden," for whicR she received great applause. A eompetition followed, and thefi afternoon tea was served by th® hostesses. ; . The singing of the National Anthem terminated a very pleasant social afternoon.
